What Happened Wrote a Story About You

You’ve built a life since then. A career, relationships, and people who depend on you.

On paper, you left the past behind. Underneath that, a quieter story keeps running. You tell yourself, “That happened years ago. Why does it still affect me?”

Some days, you wonder whether you’re being too sensitive about it.

Trusting people takes more out of you than it should.

If you could change one thing, it would be the way your past keeps shaping your present.

The Story Was Written Under Conditions You No Longer Live In

Every line in it was the sense you made of something that made no sense at the time.

Some of it you arrived at on your own. Some of it was handed to you by people whose version of events served them. Either way, it was accurate to the conditions you were living in at the time.

Then the conditions changed, but the story stayed.

No one went back to ask whether it was still true.

You Get to Decide What the Story Means Now

You don’t have to revisit every painful memory to begin moving forward.

This work happens in the present, with the story you’re living inside today. Together, we’ll read it back slowly.

That’s narrative therapy: examining the story you’ve been telling yourself and questioning whether it’s the truth or a story someone else wrote for you.

You see what we open and what we leave closed. We’ll also look at what the story leaves out.

The moments that don’t fit. What you did to get through it, what you protected, what stayed intact in you the whole time.

I’ll ask about those lines, because they’ve never once been read aloud.

Your Days Stop Answering to the Story

You notice it first in the ordinary hours. A situation that used to set the whole day off passes. You stay in the day.

Less of it goes to preparing for something that already happened. You remember what happened without feeling trapped inside it.

Getting close to someone stops meaning running the odds on how it ends.

Joy arrives. You let it stay, instead of waiting for it to be taken back.

Decisions start coming from what you value rather than what you’re bracing for.

What happened stays part of your story. It stops having the final say. You can carry your story without letting it carry you.

Say It Out Loud Once

If you’re ready to stop letting yesterday define today, let’s talk.

Schedule a free consultation.

It’s all by video, anywhere in Washington State.

We’ll talk about what’s bringing you here and what you want to be different. You can ask me anything.

From there, we’ll decide together whether this is the right fit for you.

Let’s Start With a Conversation

Come Home to Yourself

Rebuilding trust in yourself doesn’t happen in a single conversation, and it doesn’t ask you to become a different person.

It starts with one honest hour, with someone who’s genuinely interested in what you think.

You don’t need a diagnosis, a plan, or a tidy explanation of what’s wrong before you reach out.

This time, the person you’re consulting is you. I’m here to help you hear the answer.

Reach out today, and we’ll find a time to talk. I’d love to hear your story and help you write what comes next.
